I am so proud of Faye. She began apprenticing with me in April 2017, after working as the Rainfire Tattoo shop manager for a year. When Faye asked me for an apprenticeship, I didn't even know she loved drawing and had an art degree. However we both knew that she could do it because of her ability to balance patience with an unrelenting desire to work hard and succeed..

In the year that she was shop manager, Faye created a website for Rainfire Tattoo from scratch and managed the creation of a large colouring book featuring all of the artists at the studio. She was always a pleasure to work with and someone I could count on.

Now every day I am more proud of how far Faye has come in such a short period of time. She is not on FB, but you can stay current with Faye's posts on Instagram @faye.cantara.tattoos or through the Rainfire email newsletter (sign up on the website-

Also, good news- Faye is currently taking clients for custom tattoos with ideas that inspire her. All you have to do is email her with your ideas atThis email address is being protected from spambots. January 2018 Tattoos by Katia Somerville
First completed tattoo of 2018 is a castle which represents finding stability and being able to move forward. Armour of protection, in the right direction, grounded and solid, lightly moving onward.
Flight of Endless Possibilities—When you believe the world is at your doorstep, the steps will solidly manifest beneath your feet. Second complete tattoo of 2018 is another castle. This is tattooed on my apprentice, Faye. ♥
Explore the beauty in the details. Thanks for the wonderful conversation, Angela. ♥
Muse code - The beauty in innovation is witnessed in our access to communication and resulting connection. 2.5 hours.
'Your version of reality is as good as anybody's', quote from a book I'm reading by Susan Scott. It was a pleasure to adorn this beautiful lady with her first tattoo. It just so happened that Amelie was also giving someone their first tattoo at the same time. A day of firsts. ♥
Unraveling Patterns - The layers of dimension and perception shift and move before our eyes. Emotions are the same, changing, re-creating. Becoming what we make them.
January 2018 Collaboration Tattoos by Katia Somerville and Ashley Apok
Myself and Katia completed this collaborative tattoo on lifetime friends Deacon and River. It was a special day at Rainfire Tattoo. There was a palpable energy in the studio as we were sharing stories, being vulnerable, and found ourselves swept up in the act of service to these two beautiful souls. Magic. I'm really grateful for my clients and shopmates for continuing to enrich my life. ♥ Ashley Apok
A 'Collaboration of Connection' tattoo to honour a deep connection. River and Deacon were tattooed by myself and Ashley at the same time, a collaboration designed to fit together using our unique styles. It felt extra magical in the studio; Felix was also there adorning a seahorse on Michelle. It was 2 of the client's first tattoos and the conversation flew smoothly as we were 'swept up in a collective energy' (Ashley Apok). "Vulnerability doesn't make you weak, it makes you accessible. Know that your vulnerability can be your strength (Keith Ferrazzi, author, Who's Got Your Back)." ♥ Katia

The only way is through. This is present for me. The aspects of this Human experience that we would rather not, but we must to expand / evolve. Cultivating acceptance for what is moment to moment, while questioning my thoughts as they arise- this is my work.
I'm really stoked with how this piece is coming together. Some patterns and final touches next.
Continued this Wolf moon ornamental piece for an amazingly strong Woman. Thank you for your insights and conversation!
Stoked with the first session of this sleeve project. Thanks like sitting like a champion, Desire!
Second session on this glitch inspired geometric sleeve. Great company and convos- I'm excited to see this come together.
Moral of the day: don't let the expectations of others get in the way of that which makes you feel vibrant! Finished off this Hamsa chest piece with some Asanoa patterning. Thanks for looking!
Releasing into the weight of the darkness, I find myself buoyed up by the light. I'm dreaming into Spring: noticing the buds forming on the trees, the days getting longer-another cycle begins. Thanks for your trust!
I'm continually awed by the trust my clients give me to create art on their skin. Feeling supremely blessed and supported these days. A steer skull to remind my client of his Alberta cattle ranching roots.
January 2018 Tattoos by Amelie Soucy
Thank you, S, for giving me the honour of creating this piece in memory of a dear one.
Progress on Kat's floral half sleeve! Most lines are healed and shading is fresh. Super stoked to add a background on this. Thank you for your trust, Kat!
Stingray, for Liz.
Flowers, for Aliea. ♥

The Lions for Hunter, who lives for the outdoors! So wonderful to do this delicate piece. As my mentor always says, love is in the details. I'd love to do some more dotwork scenery! Bring me your photos.
So much fun doing this tattoo with such a pretty placement. Thank you, Emma!
Henna style adornment with silphium, a medicinal plant believed to be extinct. This piece honours Ghada's ancestral homelands in Libya.
Kyle received one of my first flash designs when I started my apprenticeship - we added a striking mandala onto what's slowly turning into a half-sleeve. Safe travels in Mexico with your fiance, Kyle!
Finished this meditative calf piece with Liam. Thank you for your trust!
January 2018 Tattoos by Felix Addison
To always remember to stand up for oneself and the defenseless is to preserve the beauty of life.
"True belonging is the spiritual practice of believing in and belonging to yourself so deeply that you can share your most authentic self with the world and find sacredness in both being a part of something and standing alone in the wilderness. True belonging doesn't require you to change who you are; it requires you to be who you are."-Brené Brown.
For love of the salmon that dwell in our ocean and run through our streams, and a prayer for their preservation.
Tribute to a beloved pet turtle of twenty years.
