February has been a fantastic month with two of my favorite people coming to visit from Sweden, Mary Jane and Leigh.  I've been playing tour guide, taking them skiing, to a hockey game, and many pubs and adventures. They are both breath-taking artists (see below). Last month, the fun and bubbly Hailly did a small guest spot from her usual place in Coquitlam, and it was excellent to get to know her. Next month we have the super-talented Nico Traditional visiting us and soon after, Jaquelina Divina is back in early April. Ashley has travel plans and has pushed back many projects until his return. Faye has moved to the coast, but still comes to tattoo with us 2-3 days per week as she loves the studio so much, she makes use of the travel time for drawing. Felix has also been a consistent guest artist, gracing our studio with her stunning designs every month. Lastly we have a new receptionist/shop manager who is lovely and really has her stuff together- thanks Amanda we are so happy to have you on board! Lastly, it is 'Mandala March', so have a look below and hopefully you find a design you'd love to get tattooed. <3 Katia

March Designs 2019

by Katia Somerville
If you would like one of these original designs tattooed, please click the link below the designs.
Delicacy- Float through change with positivity. This design was originally drawn with a garter in mind however I think it would look amazing vertically as well on an arm or leg. Even on a back coming onto the neck.
Profonde- Magician's illusion- veil and reveal as needed. This design would look amazing in many different body placements. I have 2 arm placements shown here and if you like the upper arm, I have an idea to continue the design onto the shoulder and partly on the chest.
Mandala Madness- If you apply for this you can choose 1 of these mandalas to get tattooed anywhere you'd like on your body! Each mandala has a special meaning that will be revealed at the appointment.
TRUST TATTOO - A trust tattoo is a process in which the recipient of the tattoo will only see the piece upon it's completion. This often includes wearing a blindfold throughout the session. This requires a high degree of trust between artist and client. I will have a conversation with you a week or so prior to the session, and the design will be created following this discussion. Thank you for your trust. <3 Katia

---  TO APPLY FOR ONE OF KATIA'S ABOVE DESIGNS  ---

Each design will only ever be tattooed once and the recipients will be chosen at random. There is a 'Trust Tattoo' offered every 2nd or 3rd month.
I am a fast tattoo artist, however the time it takes will depend on the canvas size and skin. Most of the designs in this month's newsletter should be able to be completed one session, about 4-5 hours maximum. Thanks for your interest and for applying. <3 Katia
*These are original art works by Katia Somerville. With respect, please do not duplicate the designs, bring them to another tattoo artist nor post them online. All tattoos are one-time custom pieces that Katia has drawn with intention.

I love tattooing hands and was especially excited that my client was on board for this less typical placement.
One of the custom flash pieces I had the pleasure of tattooing at Rainfire Tattoo.
Some fine lines for Dana.  Made during my guest spot at Rainfire.
So excited to have been able to tattoo this nautilus from my flash. It's such a pleasure to meet other divers and people who share a love and respect for the ocean. With every aquatic tattoo, I donate 20$ of my earnings to a charity that helps marine preservation/rehabilitation.
