I love summer in Vancouver. There is lot to be excited about this month, including having tattoo artists Mariana and Gina back from Mexico City; as well as Ashley returning from Nelson for a week at the end of June. I'm looking forward to 2 upcoming trips. In July, I will be tattooing with my close friend Mary Jane in Stockholm, Sweden, and in November I'm teaching a drawing workshop in Guatemala (see below if you'd like to join me). It was a wonderful May, thank you to Dmitri, who traveled here from Latvia to tattoo with us, and also thanks to Wendi from Oregon. Resident guest artits Felix and Faye were both busy in the studio last month. I hope you like one of my designs below. I hope you like one of them! <3 Katia

June Designs 2019

by Katia Somerville
If you would like one of these original designs tattooed, please click the link below the designs.
Please do not copy these designs in any way. Much appreciated <3 Katia
Pause Betweeen Thoughts - The path to perfection lies in training the mind to not focus on perfection. I'd really love to put magic into someone's hand/wrist with this design.
Sometimes Emote -
Felurian, dissolves resistance
into a world of
unintentional retreat.
Castle tattoo designs aren't often the first ones to get chosen, but I still love drawing them. This one is based on a book I was reading by Patrick Rothfus (highly recommended)!
Perception - "There is no difference between what is seen and the mind that sees it" - Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche (Click here to find out about this author's upcoming visit to Vancouver). This tattoo design would look great in many areas, including between other tattoos. I especially see it on a back shoulder, chest, or ribs. Please put location in the application.
Pretty Poison - Flow through adversity and disconnection by appreciating the challenges as opportunities to grow.
Achievement Unlocked- Layers and loops of goals and nostalgia.

---  TO APPLY FOR ONE OF KATIA'S ABOVE DESIGNS  ---

Each design will only ever be tattooed once and the recipients will be chosen at random. There is a 'Trust Tattoo' offered every 2nd or 3rd month.
I am a fast tattoo artist, however the time it takes will depend on the canvas size and skin. Most of the designs in this month's newsletter should be able to be completed one session, about 4-5 hours maximum. Thanks for your interest and for applying. <3 Katia
*These are original art works by Katia Somerville. With respect, please do not duplicate the designs, bring them to another tattoo artist nor post them online. All tattoos are one-time custom pieces that Katia has drawn with intention.

May 2019 Tattoos

by Katia Somerville
Tattoo for one of my best friends, encouraging confidence as her art soars. This feather was drawn by Kylie, with an added cipher by myself, written and designed when we went to Poland together for a shamanic tattoo retreat. ♥Katia
Transforming mundane to perfected might not look as expected. ♥Katia
A pleasure to work with darker skin tones for this tattoo, which represents learning, swirling, extracting, distracting, entertaining and pertaining. Bringing calmness. ♥Katia
Continuation of Sukhia's tattoo, and a blooming friendship as well. ♥Katia
Living on the Horizon: A melding of stepping into the light and hiding from it. Thanks for getting a castle tattoo, Gautham. I have stopped drawing castles, but probably start again in this year. ♥Katia
Double mandala for Jessica's sleeve. We couldn't decide where to place the design so decided to put it in both spots! The girl I tattooed this on is super fantastic. See you again soon, Jessica! ♥Katia
Look closely at enhanced details, analyzing beneath the surface of wants unseen. ♥Katia
One thing I love about tattooing is large projects where I get to know the clients over many months. Thanks Jessica for continuing to show up and being awesome. ♥Katia

My take on a request to use animals depicted in cave paintings the client liked. This was fun! Thanks Lindsey!
